Lionel Faury has vines in St Joseph, Condrieu and in Cote Rotie. His Côte Rôtie Emporium comes from 20+ year old vines, 95% Syrah, 5% Viognier planted on schist soils. The fruit is fermented with its natural yeasts and aged on 600lt oak casks 30% new each year producing about 900 bottles a year. Attractive ripe black fruits with hint of bacon fat, soft tannins and easy acidity; this is drinking well but will blossom further with time.
