Alain Jaume has a small parcel of Viognier, illegal in Chateauneuf Blanc, hence it's lowly Côtes de Rhône AC. He vinifies this in stainless steel to keep the freshness and vibrant peachy, apricoty smells and flavours of the Viognier, fresh enough to make a perfect aperitif and full enough to take on most foods.
Delightful fresh minerals and peaches from this lovely fresh unoaked Viognier, I find myself reaching for it time and time again.
Domaine Grand Veneur is a renowned Chateauneuf du Pape estate run by the skilful Alaine Jaume and his two sons. Alain is famous for his excellent White Chateauneuf but he also has a small parcel of Viognier, illegal in Chateauneuf Blanc, hence it's lowly Côtes de Rhône AC. He vinifies this in stainless steel to keep the freshness and vibrant peachy, apricoty smells and flavours of the Viognier. This is a lovely glass, fresh enough to make a perfect aperitif and full enough to take on most foods.
