A powerful Chianti from a plot planted in 1933
The Monte Bernardi estate is situated in Panzano, one of the best sites in the Chianti Classico region. Owned since 2003 by Michael Schmelzer who has invested heavily in its vineyards and cellar, the results are impressive. The estate extends to 45 hectares but only 15 are under vine, mostly farmed organically and biodynamically. Their exciting, powerful, MB 1933 is a field blend from a small high lying vineyard planted in 1933.
