Description

Domaine du Haut Bourg was created in 1944 and is now run by fourth generation brothers Hervé and Nicolas Choblet their 40 hectare estate is situated in the Côtes de Grandlieu Cru of the Muscadet region.

The Choblets only produce about 600 cases of their unique Origene du Haut Bourg. The grapes are sourced from the estate’s original plantings of Melon de Bourgogne now aged 75 years. The grapes are carefully selected and given a cool fermentation, then aged for about 9 years in concrete tanks, lees stirring takes place 3 times in the first year then the wine is left alone to age.

With a green gold colour and  nose of flowers, honey and green apples and a complex palette of ripe green apple and stone fruit with a lactic twist and a mineral core, hints of sweetness are kept in balance by the acidity and minerality, very long and  very interesting.
