Description
Vittoria Navacchia makes an exciting range of wines from his two estates in Enilia-Romagna. None more so than this qvevri aged Albana. Albana is the main white grape of the area often made crisp and fresh, but Vittoria having drawn on the experience of working with some of Italys finest consultants uses long skin contact to extract the aromatics from just under the skins.
He started experimenting with qvevri, large teracotta anphoras as used in Georgia, back in 2012 and now owns 10 ranging from 10,000ltrs to 1000ltrs.
His Albana is given 80-90 days skin contact with regular punching down of the skins, extracting a golden orange colour and almost apricot like nose and palate wrapped with minerals and a long complex finish.
