This 11th Generation family estate makes really impressive red Sancerre
Luc Prieur is the 11th Generation to farm this estate in Verdigny, he makes really impressive red Sancerre. This comes from a single vineyard site known as Les Pichons planted in the 1950's on the Verdigny side of the steep ridge of Mont Damnée. This cuvée comes from the lower slopes, 20-50% are whole bunch fermented after a month of maceration on the skins, plenty of colour here, the fermentation takes place in stainless steel and large oak casks. Suprisingly powerful and almost muscular ripe strawberries and plums with a long mineral wrapped palate. Drinking well but this will age really well too.
