Andrew Murray Vineyards Roasted Slope 2020
Andrew Murray’s winery in the Santa Ynez valley of Santa Barbara is almost entirely dedicated to his pursuit of growing the best Rhône varietals. Lovers of wines from the Rhône should not miss this great range of wines.
Having travelled in the Rhône and worked in Australia he returned home to study viticulture and oenology at UC Davis and founded his winery in the cool Santa Ynez Valley. Here coastal breezes are funnelled in from the coast giving a long growing season ideal for Syrah.
Andrew Murray’s unashamed copy of a Côte Rôtie, Roasted Slope, is made by co-fermenting Syrah and Viognier. The wine is a very dark, brooding red/black fruit with hints of bacon rind, ripe tannins and a velvety mouthfeel and a long finish balanced by natural acidity.
