Mamete Prevostini Botonero Nebbiolo 2022 IGT Alpi Retiche
The Botonero comes from un-oaked Nebbiolo grapes grown on sandy soils in the hills around the town of Sondrio in the Alpi Retiche region of Lombardy
The Prevostini family have been producing wines from the Nebbiolo grape (here called Chiavennasca) on the steep terraced slopes of Valtellina since the mid-1940s. Originally just to supply their famous restaurant in Sondrio at the gateway to the Valtellina's high Alpine Valley.
Their Botonero comes from Nebbiolo grapes grown on sandy soils in the hills around the town of Sondrio 300-700m up. Because it’s situation just outside the Valtellina DOC it has the IGT Alpi Retiche. The grapes are handpicked and destemmed before maceration and fermented in stainless steel where it ages for 8 months.
The Botonero is attractive and juicy with a floral red fruited nose and dark cherry spicy fruit on the palate the tannins are soft and easy
