Description
Quinta Nova sits on the north side of the Douro in the Cima Corgo the best area of the Douro. Owned by the Amorim family since 1999, their 85 hectares of vines fan out up the steep slope above the pretty 19th century manor house and waterfront chapel where travelers would stop and pray before ascending the terrifying rapids further up the Douro towards Pinhão, before the river was dammed in the 1960’s.
Their lovely textured Grainha Branco is made from Voisinho, Gouveio and Rabigato grapes grown on granitic soils and aged 7 months in French oak barrels (95%) and Hungarian oak.
