Bodegas Tarón Pantocrátor Rioja 2011
Taron’s stunning Pantocrator is only produced in the finest years. Sourced from their best sites located in the shelter of the Obarenes mountains.
Bodegas Taron’s stunning Pantocrator is only produced in the finest years. Sourced from their best sites located in the shelter of the Obarenes mountains in the north of la Rioja Alta. The vines, 100% Tempranillo, with an average age of 50 years are bush trained and picked by hand. The fermentation of this wine is carried out in stainless steel tanks with a total of 18 days of maceration and daily punching down of the skin cap. It spends 1 full year in tank before passing into new American oak barrels, where it remains for a further 24 months. After blending it rests for a further year before bottling.
The colour is deep as is the spicy dark fruited nose with a powerful long palate with sweet oak and acidity which gives the wine balance and complexity. This can be drunk now or will keep well.
Rioja lovers take note, this is not to be missed! Given 97 points and a platinum award in Decanter.
