Bodegas Tarón Rioja Reserva 2016
This great value Reserva comes from vines with an average age of 70 years mostly from Tempranillo and 10% Mazuelo.
Bodegas Tarón is a cooperative situated in the cool northern part of the Rioja Alta, their grapes are sourced from four neighbouring villages, Cuzcurrita de Rio Tiron, Sajazarra, Villaseca and Tirgo which shared similar terroir and climate; they have about 700 hectares of vineyards.
This great value Reserva comes from vines with an average age of 70 years mostly from Tempranillo and 10% Mazuelo. The grapes are pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks where they rest for a year before passing into American oak casks for a further 14 months aging and then further aging in bottle before release.
Warm spicy with smoky oak and attractive red fruits on the nose, the long palate has soft ripe cherry and dark berry fruit with herbs and licorice and sweet oak and good balancing acidity, this is drinking very well.
